GET READY FOR JAIL, SMUT KINGS !

Some of America's biggest porn peddlers are about to learn a new four-letter word: jail.

The recent appointment of Attorney Bruce Taylor as senior counsel on the U.S. Department of Justice's anti-pornography team is decidedly bad news for the smut kings. It was Taylor who put the world's largest distributor of porn, the late Rueben Sturman, in federal prison, and shut down all his porn shops. Taylor even got a jury to convict a porn distributor in Chico, Calif., a town known for its party-school state university.

I have known Taylor since the l980's when he worked in President Reagan's Justice Department. At the time, I was an adviser to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors' Commission on Obscenity and Pornography. Taylor is universally liked, except by the porn makers, their lawyers, and their fellow-travelers in the media and academe.

Over the years he has told me how the porn bosses utterly destroy women, killing one after another through drugs, disease, and suicide. He has described how they take women who were sexually abused as children, and make them spectacles of abuse for million of porn users. "Pornography,": he adds, "is almost always in the picture when a child is abducted and killed, or when a woman is raped."

Thing were not always like this, not when our elected officials used to enforce the obscenity laws. They have let the "sexologists," pornographers, and pro-porn judges flood our country with obscenity.

Thanks to them, the smut kings churn out 11,000 porn movies every year - more that 20 times as many films as Hollywood makes. Literally hundreds of millions of pornographic web sites stalk your children on the Internet, Cable TV pumps porn into your home. Your neighborhood video store stocks XXX-rated films. Bookstores and newsstands flash porn in your family's face. Hotels and motels offer you pay-per-view porn. With cash and booze, the smut kings bribe college kids to appear in orgy videos shot on campus.

The porn makers talk about "freedom of expression" and their "rights." But they never talk about what they have done to us.

In l950, America's illegitimacy and divorce rates were low, but today they are off the charts. In l950, there were two main venereal diseases; today there are around 40, some incurable or even lethal. More than 13 million cases of VD are reported each year, 3.8 million of them among teens. One in four adults now carries VD, and almost 45% of our young people contract VD or AIDS by their mid-20s. Perhaps 40-50% of all U.S. college girls now carry human papilloma virus (HPV), which causes nearly all cervical cancer. More people die annually from HPV-caused cancer in the United States than from AIDS.

Porn addiction, too, is approaching epidemic levels, psychotherapists report. One therapist has counseled more than 700 porn addicts. Even women are becoming hooked.

In l950, children could wander freely almost anywhere. In l999, 58,200 children were abducted by people outside the family. Many were raped and some were murdered. Today even grade-school kids have access to obscenity. When a 12-year-old boy rapes a six-year-old girl, you can bet he was only doing what the pornographers taught him.

A crackdown is long overdue. When Bill Clinton ran for president in l992, he promised to enforce the federal obscenity laws. Instead, he and Attorney General Janet Reno turned out to be the best friends the porn bosses ever had, freezing almost all federal porn prosecutions. That is about to change.

And here's more bad news for the porn kings: Scholars have made spectacular advances in revealing how porn damages those who use it. Dr. Judith Reisman, who exposed the fraudulent work of sex "researcher" Alfred Kinsey, had demonstrated that viewing porn "permanently restructures the brain, mind, memory, and conduct of unthinking users" through neurochemical action.

Some experts say porn is as addictive is cocaine or even heroin. Evidence of porn's brain-damaging effects, submitted by physicians, helped persuade South Africa's Constitutional Court to keep a pornography law on the books last year.

All Americans, especially women and children, should rejoice that Bruce Taylor is back at Justice. You can bet he will spend lots of time in southern California, the pornography capital of the world.
